Some time ago one particular piece of wood inspired me to make this kind of shape tea holder and I had to repeat that. This non-symmetrical shape feels nice in the hand and looks live. I am happy with this and will employ it as one of my designs. Also what I did with this piece is not using any oil or shellac to seal the wood. Although I use minimal amounts, recently I started to use just tea brew as a final care with some pieces/woods. It is sort of mate finish as I do not polish/sand the wood after applying tea, just brushing. Some benefits from this and I prefer the natural look and feel. We were talking about not using any varnish with Wu De from Global Tea Hut and Antonio from Caj-chaj teahouse and thanks to them I started to do this. Thanks tea brothers for setting me on this path! What is important here is that I employ certain techniques to achieve the desired look and some moist durability. I probably still will be using tea seeds oil and shellac resin as I like to work with it and they enhance wood grain but this is a nice option.

Petr Novák's pot on the tea bridge in Mirka Randová's boat. I usually like to have something beneath my tea pot or cup when making the tea. A wooden coaster or something. I am using slate or other tea stone and I recently purchased tea boat made by Mirka Randová.  It is absolutely beautiful. From the beginning I knew that I wanna make a wooden coaster or something to put inside so the pot can stand on it. And I like the wood and pottery or stone combination, it adds warmth to it. So I dared to upgrade Mirka's boat with oak "tea bridge". I like how the pot is elevated from the boat and also how the water or tea is dropping from the bridge, it makes nice sound and it is beautiful to watch. Ancient Redgum

Hello friends,  after three years of this blog being dead I decided to start posting again. Poor quality photos on Instagram was one reason, and also I would like to share here bit more than on IG.  Extra photos of the pieces I made and probably more tea related and nature photos as well.  Hope you will like this, that you find time to look here and enjoy beauty of the wood and other on bigger screen. I am not sure how often I will post here, but I was thinking weekly or maybe more often.  Best wishes, Ondrej   Here you can take a look at ancient Redgum teascoop accompanied with Blackwood needle and ancient Bog Oak needle rest. Set went to my dear customer in Singapore. This Redgum wood comes from ancient tree that was about 1,000 years old when felled some 8,000 years ago. It is truly spectacular wood which I feel very lucky to work with. It's quite hard and dense mineralised wood, fragile but stiff. Definitely not easy to carve but certainly worth the efforts. It
